Since Metro re-opened Keighley Bus Station in February 2002, it has proved popular with local people, passengers and retailers who have praised its design and facilities.
Following Metro’s tried-and-tested layout of an enclosed passenger concourse and drive-in, reverse-out bus stands, the £3m redevelopment also provides passengers with covered access to the adjacent Airedale Shopping Centre thanks to an extended canopy.
By separating bus stands from the enclosed concourse, Metro’s design means greater comfort and safety for passengers. The concourse includes a travel centre, improved information and signage including electronic departure information, CCTV and new toilets along with retail outlets.
The 10-month refurbishment was developed in partnership with Bradford Council and Keighley & District Travel.
The BCSC represents all interests in the Shopping Centre industry from owners and managers to designers and contractors. It was established in 1983 as the national organisation for individuals and corporations with interests in the managed shopping centre environment. The council now has over 1200 members, representing developers, retailers, agents and consultants, architects and local authorities.
